Janetta Rebold Benton to amerykańska historyczka sztuki . Obecnie jest profesorem historii sztuki na Pace University w Nowym Jorku .
Edukacja
Benton uzyskała tytuł Bachelor of Fine Arts na Cornell University w 1967 i tytuł Master of Arts na George Washington University w 1969. Doktorat z Brown University uzyskała w 1980 roku. Uzyskała również dyplom MDP z Management Development Program na Harvard University. Graduate School of Education.
Kariera
Zajmuje się głównie sztuką średniowiecza i renesansu. Szczególnie interesuje się humorem w sztuce i ikonografii, fantastyczną fauną i gargulcami.
W latach 2012-2013 otrzymała nagrodę Fulbright Senior Scholar Award jako profesor wizytujący w Graduate School of Art History Uniwersytetu Europejskiego w Sankt Petersburgu w Rosji.
W 2018 roku otrzymała drugą nagrodę Fulbrighta jako nauczycielka w Graduate School of Art History of the China Academy of Art w Hangzhou .
Prezentowała cykl wykładów prenumeratowych w Metropolitan Museum of Art w Nowym Jorku w każdym sezonie 1988-2011. W 1995 roku była gościnnym kuratorem i autorem katalogów wystawy „Medieval Monsters: Dragons and Fantastic Creatures” w Katonah Museum of Art . Prowadzi również wycieczki dla Smithsonian i Metropolitan Museum of Art.
